Surely you remember the last nettop presented by Xtreamer. I mean the Xtreamer Ultra. Almost a year of that and it is time that of having a brother. That is just what the manufacturer introduced with the announcement of his new offspring: the Xtreamer Ultra 2. As in the previous case, this is an HTPC that this time is presented in two configurations: a basic barabone style and a “turnkey” with which we only need to turn on and go.
Although both Xtreamer Ultra 2 versions are based on an Intel Atom D2700 at 2.13GHz, accompanied by a Geforce 520M GPU, the included components considerably vary from one computer to another. So, the “Deluxe” version includes a 32GB SSD hard drive, 4GB DDR3 RAM, a remote control and an HDMI 1.4 and USB 3 cables. These components are absent in the “barebone” version in exchange for reducing the price by about 100€ ($140). Of course, the expansion possibilities are more than assured in both cases, thanks to its 6 USB ports (including 2 USB 3.0), the eSATA connector, the WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth as standard.
The power of this new Xtreamer Ultra 2 is more than assured, especially when you consider that you can add many extras such as remote control with keyboard and pad (optional) or an external combo drive that includes DVD recording and Blu-ray reading. Although based on a Linux installation it is Windows 7 compatible and supports the installation of powerful media players like Boxee, XBMC or MediaPortal. In short, a new twist to the concept of small size and powerful performance HTPC.
Pre-orders for both nettops are already available with recommended prices of 299€ ($390) and 199€ ($260) respectively.
Good news to European costumers. Xtreamer will have an European Hub in March. So, shorter delivery time and above all… no customs taxes to pay.
