Xiilun – World’s Smallest Oak Trail Nettop

Bring on the Oak Trail nettops. Here’s the first that I’m even aware of, from Toradex – it’s called the ‘xiilun’ and it comes in at 6 x 8.9 x 1.6 cm and houses a single board ‘Topaz’ Intel Atom E6xx processor. They can get it this small because they’ve shaved off features – I’ll get to those shortly. The company was showing this off, along with a Tegra 2 version at Embedded World earlier this month. You can see the Tegra 2 version on video at ARMdevices.net.

The specs – an Intel Atom E6xx processor (up to 1.6GHz) with support for hyper threading and virtualization, GMA 600 graphics, 1GB – 2GB of DDR2 RAM, support for 1080p resolution and dual displays and the usual video codecs. Ports include 1x DVI-D (on HDMI connector), 4x USB 2.0 and MicroSD card. No Wi-Fi, LAN, 3G, Bluetooth or audio out of the box. You’ll have to plug in your own USB devices to enable these features. Runs some linux based OS out of the box. Naturally, it’s fanless, too.
