Western Digital launches new WD TV Play media player

For those who want to enjoy audio and video at home’s living room, and want an out-of-the-box solution, Western Digital launches a new WD TV Play media player, which has an excellent design and attractive low price compared to other solutions on the market.


Indeed, Western Digital has added another model to its range of WD TV media transmitters , the WD TV Play offers a wide range playback of audio and video formats, with a price of only $ 70, compared to solutions on $100 from the same company as the WD TV Live and WD TV Live Hub.

This new desktop media player, available in a size of 4.17″ x 4.13″ x 1.07″, offers WiFi, Ethernet, USB 2.0, HDMI, composite A/V video and audio and optical connection for audio. Supports playback of video, audio, photos, playlists and several subtitle formats, with support for standard and HD video formats. List of supported formats.


The WD TV Play comes with a software package and various online services, 28 in total as listed on the product page, including: Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Vimeo, Vudu, CinemaNow, Pandora, Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, among others.

This player includes a remote control with the standard controls for navigation and playback, as well as Sponsored buttons for quick access to services like Netflix, Vudu and Hulu. Western Digital also includes the WD TV Remote app for devices running Android 2.1 + and iOS 4.0 + to control the player and the playback from the mobile phone.
