ViewSonic VOT132 Mini PC

The ViewSonic VOT132 Mini PC is an ideal candidate for anyone considering a prebuilt HTPC. Featuring an Intel Atom dual core processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM and NVIDIA ION graphics, plenty of power is available for 1080p HD playback.

With compact dimensions of 7.48″ x 0.98″ x 5.32″ (WxHxD) and a smart glossy black finish, the VOT132 can discretely be integrated into your living room HTPC setup. If you own a ViewSonic monitor with a VESA mount, you can attach this device to the back of your monitor.

A good selection of IO ports are available including 6 x USB 2.0, DVI, HDMI, SPDIF, Ethernet and 3.5mm audio output. The unit is kept cool by an internal fan and ventilation slots on the top and bottom of the case.

This Mini PC comes preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium and also supports a 320GB hard drive. More than enough room for storing a decent media collection for your HTPC. You can of course hook up to a network storage drive via the units ethernet port.

One important point to mention about this device is that there is no internal optical drive. ViewSonic offers the VDD100 DVD RW Super Multi Drive as an optional extra for this purpose. This unit has the same dimensions as the VOT132 and attaches to it via magnets.

The VOT132 is currently available from Amazon for US$389.99. But keep in mind that you will also need to spend around another $80 if you require the VDD100 DVD drive.
