VIA announces the smallest X86 configuration in the world based on a Quad-Core processor, the Artigo A1250.
With dimensions of only 17.1 x 12.5 x 2 cm, the Artigo A1250 is a X86 unit built around a VIA VX11H chipset. The processor is a QuadCore E-Series chip clocked at 1 GHz (1 MB L2 cache) supported by a maximum of 8 GB of DDR3-1333 MHz SO-DIMM memory.
The average consumption of the unit is announced at 27 Watts while the case meets the VESA standard(10 x 10 cm) in order to set behind a screen. The connectivity includes two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port and HDMI and VGA video outputs.
For the moment no rate is provided. VIA said that its system can decode H.264, MPEG-2, VC-1 and WMV9 with a 1080P HD resolution without any difficulty while DirectX 11 is supported.
