The Scythe Big Shuriken 2 CPU Cooler is Finally Here

Scythe officially launches its new low profile cooler, the Big Shuriken 2, codenamed SCBSK-2000. It is a cooling system designed for the HTPC, and more specifically for the slim boxes or spaces. The dimensions did not change, even the specifications have changed somewhat.

There are still a 120mm fan in diameter, but as slim as 12 mm, against 25 mm for conventional fans. Compatible with PWM, it runs between 500 and 2000 rpm and presents noise between 9.32 and 33.67 dB (A). The heatsink will go from 4 to 5 heat pipes connected to a new base in direct contact with the processor.

But the main feature of the Sycthe Suriken 2 is still its small footprint, particularly in low profile format of only 58 mm high (with fan, 125 x 135 x 58 mm). Still remember that there may be, given the area it operates, incompatibilities with some Mini-ITX motherboards with a misplaced socket, and even incompatibilities of the memory modules with the heat sink.

The Big Shuriken is compatible with most sockets (Intel and AMD AM2/AM2 + 775/1155/1156/1366 AM3/AM3 + / FM1), and is trading at just over € 35, the price of Big Shuriken to its release.
