The New WD TV Live Has Arrived

Western Digital has refreshed its media gateway WD Live TV with a new compact design and support of Spotify, that places itself more and more like the streaming music service available to DLNA devices.
The new WD Multimedia TV Live case does not offer a big revolution in feature. You may, however, enjoy the new design with a very compact case, integration of the new interface available on the WD TV Live Hub, access to Youtube, Dailymotion and more VOD, and especially the streaming music service that is rolling well since its launch in the United States, Spotify. As a reminder, Spotify allows for $5/month to listen to any music, artist, album and unlimited online listening with tags. This service offers a search engine to find your artists and albums, or song, and a “Favorites” feature to find all your favorite selections directly.

Now, the WD TV Live offers Dolby TrueHD Bitstream but not DTS-HD (for licensing reasons) over MKV and M2TS among others. It also have Wi-Fi N. By cons there is still no support for Blu-ray ISO and it is not have a gigabit ethernet card. Its connectivity includes a 100M Ethernet port, 2 USB 2.0, HDMI 1.3, optical SPDIF and analog AV.

It is already available in the US for about $100. It will be available in November in Europe, but he target price is still unknown.
