The First Atom D2700 Motherboard by Asus

We saw it for the first time at Computex, the Asus D27NM10-I IPC it’s a Mini-ITX motherboard in Cedar Trail platform. It’s equipped with the new Atom D2700 formalized this week. This is more than enough to build a small server or a multimedia-oriented PC.

And, don’t knowing why, the card ignores the HDMI output, substituted for a dual VGA and DVI output. There are however two network ports, two RS232 ports and 4 USB 2.0 ports, that are important to use it has an home-made NAS. In this regard, we note that the motherboard is completely passive with a large heatsink installed on the D2700 Atom processor, and the power supply is external and therefore passive, too. On the PCB, there is a 1x PCIe slot that can accommodate a RAID card for example, if the two S-ATA 2 ports are not enough. The memory is confined to the SO-Dimm DDR3 format.

Now we will wait for the multimedia versions of the D2500 or D2700 motherboard with HDMI output, of course…
