The DDR4 will be launched in 2013

JEDEC has published specifications of the new DDR4 and LRDDR3 standards, the new memories that will emerge in 2013 for DDR4, and in 2012 for the new ultra low power DDR3. In fact these are only the first strips of DDR4 that will emerge in 2013, the volume will be available for PC in 2014.

We see the standard requires the use of 20 nm engraving, while Samsung had created a DDR4 in January 2011 with a string of 30 nm engraving. These new strips will benefit the doubling of the bandwidth from 1.6 to 3.2 Gbps, and a drop in voltage from 1.5 to 1.2 volts. This will reduce the heat and power consumption of strips, while enjoying higher performance.
