Sony Connected the STR-DN1020 AV Receiver

The STR-DN1020 is a network AV receiver that supports 7.2-channel 3D and video signals with a large number of HD audio formats, including Dolby Prologic IIz. Powerful, it delivers 100W per channel, in addition to being equipped with four HDMI inputs and one HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel). The front USB port offers a digital connection for iPod, iPhone, Walkman and USB to play its music easily.

The Advanced DCAC auto-calibration function can quickly and accurately set its speakers by analyzing the sound of 6 band and the automatic adjustment of the phase. The STR-DN1020 also has advanced audio processing. The HD Digital Cinema Sound processor (DCS HD) reproduces the acoustic model of Cary Grant Theatre, the Sony Picture Entertainment studios room used by directors when finalizing soundtracks. To provide a maximum depth, the HD DCS mode is capable of generating vertical surround effects to the premises equipped with two front speakers in height.

Digital music is more than ever present in the home, but everyone does not have necessarily good quality compression. That’s why Sony has integrated in its amplifiers the Digital Legato Linear Technology, responsible for reducing noise and distortion of the compressed sound, and convert them to 192kHz sampling rate. In addition, the balance between the treble and the bass is different depending on the volume control. With Sound optmization, enjoy optimum sound regardless of the noise. At a low volume the amp wil ser its bass to balance it’s presence. The video features are not far behind. The Faroudja DCI Edge video processor improves the analog video signal from devices to be closer to HD quality, thanks to a 1080p upscaling.

Like the STR-DH820, the STR-DN1020 can distribute and control multiple programs simultaneously in two different rooms (depending Zone 2), using audio and video components or speaker terminals. Once connected to home network via the Ethernet port, the STR-DN1020 can remotely access the music stored on a PC, and distribute pieces over a home theater system. This receiver has also the Streaming Party function to play music in several rooms with WiFi. This mode supports the sharing of audio sources with other network devices such as Sony SA-NS300 wireless speaker. You can control the HiFi playback elements connected in Party Streaming mode with the Audio Network Remote application, available free on iPhone.

The STR-DN1020 is available at a price of $300 at Amazon.
