Serviio: Free DLNA Server for Windows, OSX and Linux

One of the best and most immediate DLNA media server that even supports external subtitles. To be installed without any hesitation on Mac OSX, Windows or Linux.

Serviio 0.6.1 Review

Watch your movies, or vacation photos on your computer is fine, able to watch them on your networked TV or via the XBox or the PS3 or other DLNA compatible device is better!

Serviio is an excellent application for running your media to DLNA compatible devices by installing a high performance server and user friendly.

What do we mean by media… Of course audio, video and image are of the party, but you can also use this software to share online resources such as RSS feeds, streaming audio or video content or web pages.

Regarding media files (audio and video), Serviio allows the extraction of meta data, so the user can access them in a “catalog”, knowing that some info will be retrieved online (taglines , movies synopsis, covers). The database will be updated automatically while adding files.

Note the ability to create profiles in order to enjoy the potential of each device and mark the videos already seen.

For fans of series or films in original version with subtitles, it should be noted the full compatibility of external subtitles.

The following formats are supported:

  • Audio: MP3, Windows Media Audio (. WMA), AAC, OGG and FLAC,
