Samsung UE55D6200 Edge LED Review

When we were investigating TVs that claimed to offer ‘Full HD’ in 3D but fell short of the mark, one of our readers was kind enough to lend us his own TV, a Samsung UE55D6200.  Naturally, we took the chance to give it a full test in our lab!

It’s actually a slimmed-down version of the Samsung D6500, with an identical feature list, apart from two small details.

Pros

Great picture in 2D and 3D

High contrast ratio: 2560:1

Powerful motion interpolation filter

Low energy consumption: 95 W

Good media player with support for lots of video format

Cons

Glossy screen picks up reflections

Colour reproduction could be better: average deltaE: 3.9

Viewing angles too narrow-

Crosstalk leads to viewers seeing double in 3D

Clouding on our test unit

Image resolution divided by two in 3D

Conclusion

The D6200 is almost exactly identical to the D6500 and has the same features and hardware.  It even puts in a similar performance in 3D mode, with the resolution halved and noticeable crosstalk.  The only real change is that the picture is less carefully handled, with both colour reproduction and gamma a notch down from the D6500.
