Samsung’s D7000 television is part of the manufacturer’s line-up for spring 2011 and is a follow-up to last year’s C7000. Just like its predecessor, this new 3D TV has a PVA display made by Samsung-Sony and Edge LED backlighting. It boasts an ultra-slim design, new online features, 800 Hz movement filters and the ability to time-shift TV programmes. That’s all a very promising start so we were very keen to get the real tests underway!
Pros
Great picture in 2D and 3D
Accurate colour reproduction (average deltaE: 2.4) and high contrast (ratio: 2610:1)
Powerful Motion Plus 800 Hz filter
Backlit remote control
Low energy consumption: 89 W
Cons
Glossy screen picks up reflections
Viewing angles too narrow
Remote pretty basic
Crosstalk more visible than with plasma TVs
Clouding on our test unit
Conclusion
The D7000 turned out to be a very nice surprise: it’s the first time that one of Samsung’s LED TVs has produced such a great picture. The results are excellent in both 2D and 3D.
