The OCZ has unveiled the Octane and Octane-S2, two regular 2.5-inch SSD, equipped respectively with a SATA 6 Gbps and a SATA 3 Gbps. Based on an Indilinx Everest controller (dual-core ARM), the two SSD have up to 512 MB buffer memory and support the TRIM command as well the NCQ and automatic encoding (AES) of data.

560 MB/s, 1 TB
About the performance, the Octane has 560MB/s reads and 400MB/s writes. In 4K random reads, the Octane rises to 45,000 IOPS. The Octane-S2 has 275MB/s reads and 265MB/s writes. In 4K random reads, it reached 30,000 IOPS.
Last but not least, the Octane and Octane-S2 should be available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.
The Octane SSDs will be available 1st November. The price of these versions is unfortunately not yet known.
