Build your own full-featured Home Theater PC Media Center with standard components purchased online from Newegg and Amazon. Watch and record cable-free high-definition TV and internet video, play movies including Netflix online or on DVDs, listen to your mp3 music collection, store and playback all your digital photos. Sit back with your remote control and enjoy it all on your large screen TV. Did you know that the necessary Media Center software is already built into most versions of Microsoft Windows 7?
Included in this build is a $49 Rosewill RC-CIX-01 black steel case with 150W power suppy & 80mm fan, a GIGABYTE GA-H55N-USB3 motherboard, an Intel Core I3-550 Clarkdale 3.2GHZ CPU with integrated Graphics Processor, a 2-terabyte hard drive and 4GB of DDR3 RAM. I also adapted an Xbox Universal Remote Control for use with Windows Media Center.
The total build cost for this unit came to around $500, less the Windows 7 Home Premium Media Center software. For step-by-step instructions and lots more detail, go to: http://technocatsblog.blogspot.com.
