A roadmap unearthed by our VR-Zone colleagues reveals two new SSDs series in Intel’s catalog. The Intel 520 Series and 330 Series disks will have an offspring called 525 series and 335 series respectively.
For the 525 Series, not much to report for the general public as it is in fact variants of the 520 mSATA series released earlier this year. The controller remains the SandForce SF-2281 and disk performance that will be offered in capacities of 30, 60, 120 and 240 GB should not change. However, due to their new format, they will be smaller and therefore much easier to integrate into ultrabooks.
Meanwhile, the 335 Series SSD will keep the SF-2281 controller from their predecessors, but this time they will be associated with MLC memory engraved in 20 nm, a finesse that would make this range a little more competitive on the price. The 335 Series SSD should initially release the 240GB version in the third quarter 2012 and will be subsequently followed by the 80 and 180Go versions.
