Netgear presented yesterday a new very special powerline device because of its versatility, since if the Netgear Powerline Music Extender allows you to connect to the Internet like any other Powerline kit, its main advantage is to enable the music streaming without any wire installation over an home cinema or Hi-Fi configuration from a PC, tablet or smartphone. And, as a bonus, Windows 7 and AirPlay compatibility.
If the owners of AirPlay and DLNA-compatible amps will have no use with this kit, Netgear intended to give the Extender Music to those who do not have a compatible amp or receaver. The device is easy to install, with a powerline box connected to the power outlet, and the other powerline device connecting a USB to RCA & mini jack cable. Simply Plug & Play.
In adition, on a little more network-centric, it is also possible to connect a USB printer or external hard drive for use on a network. For convenience, it has a female socket with power filter to not monopolize too much space.
The Netgear Music Extender Kit (XAUB2511) is now available at retail price of $139.
