MSI Z68MA-ED55 Micro-ATX Z68 Motherboard

MSI’s Z68MA-ED55 appears to be a higher-end mATX board compared to ASRock’s Z68 Pro3-M, least not based on the fact the MSI’s board has a pair of x16 slots.

That said; you’d need a case with at least five expansion slots if you’d want to take advantage of both slots while using dual-slot graphics cards. The board also has two PCI Express x1 slots, but as this is a mATX this is where the expansion slots end.

Moving to the back of the motherboard, we get to see that MSI has added all the usual connectivity options that come standard nowadays, including a pair of USB 3.0 ports 7.1-channel audio with optical S/PDIF out and a FireWire port.

The Taiwanese company has also introduced a wide series of video outputs, including D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI, which make the board compatible with Intel’s Quick Sync video transcoding technology. The only thing that is missing is the addition of an on-board USB 3.0 header.

No details regarding pricing are available at this time, but the MSI Z68MA-ED55 is expected to become official on May 11, when Intel plans to introduce the Z68 Express chipset.
