MSI is positioned around the new generation Trinity APU AMD motherboards with several popular formats ie ATX, Micro ATX and Mini ITX. The FM2-A55M-E33 is characterized by a price of just $49 that can be used to mount a lowcost configuration desktop just like a cheap HTPC.
The FM2-A55M-E33 motherboard is dedicated to the AMD’s Trinity APU over FM2 socket. In a Micro ATX format, it is an architecture around A55 chipset and has two DDR3 slots (1066 MHz, 1333 MHz, 1600 MHz, 1866 MHz and 2133 MHz). The maximum memory capacity is 16 GB accepted. For connectivity we have four SATA 3 Gb/s ports compatible with RAID 0,1, 10 and JBOD, one PCIe 16x (standard 2.0), one PCIe 1x, a PCI, two PS/2 ports, four USB 2.0, VGA and HDMI video outputs, an Ethernet port (Realtek RTL8111E) and three audio jacks (Realtek ALC887).
The features are quite basic with a minimalist cooling summarized to a simple aluminum heatsink or vertical SATA connectors. However, most MSI’s features are still present, including the “OC Genie II”, the “M-Flash” or the “Super Charger” and especially a price of only $49.
