Media center with Android 2.3 transforms the TV into Smart TV

Diamond Multimedia launched a media center for TV based on Android, the AMP1000 (AMP stands for Android Media Player). Running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread, this little box with Wi-Fi allows the user to have the experience of a Smart TV. The Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 Android Media Center has a 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor supported by 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage.

The AMP1000 comes with photo viewer, music player, e-book reader (and also magazines and newspapers), Adobe Flash Player support and internet browser, among other functions. Also gives the oportunity to download new apps from Google Play. It also has a remote control with mouse, QWERTY thumb keyboard and motion control, ie, it is as if your television really turned a computer, mainly for work.

You can buy it on Amazon and, according to the manufacturer, starts at $99. This includes a limited-time $20 mail-in rebate available from the Diamond Multimedia Facebook page.

Nice for a Smart TV, right?
