This item was shipped and received sooner than expected. The best part, this item was plug and play with Ubuntu! It is perfect for a media center application. Highly recommended. — Keysonic ACK-540RF Ubuntu Plug and play compatable!

I got this keyboard to go with my home theater PC and I love it. I was initially looking at the Adesso WKB-4000US (which a friend has) but decided on this one because the on/off switch and the LEDs that indicated transmitting, pairing, and low battery. The soft rubber-like material is much more comfortable than the hard surface of the Adesso. For some reason my keyboard lost it’s pairing with the USB dongle. Pairing was very easy as you just press the pairing button on the bottom of the laptop. Mine did come with a manual (which described the process for pairing). I have been using it for 3 weeks now with the batteries that came in the box. Even if you don’t turn it off the keyboard goes into a low power mode and you just need to press the CRTL key to wake it up. As mention in the previous review it is 100% plug-and-play and is automatically recognized by Windows 7 (no need to install any software). The integration trackpad, light weight, compact size, and soft touch material makes this the perfect HTPC keyboard. — Great Keyboard for HTPC Use

Goes through the two AAA batteries in about a week!!!! On third set in a month!
Seller shipped real fast. — Gobbles up batteries

Awesome product, useful for home theater or for an “on the go” portable solution. They unit itself is very discreet, with a rubberized mat black texture. Key’s are very responsive, but most notably is the “Multi-Fingers Smart-Pro” touchpad.

The touchpad, while very responsive (almost too responsive, I had to go into touchpad settings and crank it down to the lowest setting), is aware of incidental movement/touches to the touchpad. If you accidentally hit it with your palm or with more than one finger, it does not send the pointer flying.

The only thing the touchpad is missing, compared to other touchpads, is the scroll function on the right side, however this was not an issue, as I rarely use that.

My only complaint would be that the right hand ctrl, alt, and windows keys, as well as they spacebar are a bit too small and require a little getting used to. The manufacturer included the tilde key and a second semicolon/backslash key right next to the spacebar. They could have done away with at least the extra semicolon key, and perhaps placed the tilde key in a more convenient location, to give a little more size to the spacebar and ctrl, alt, and win keys.

The range on this is keyboard is wonderful. While just the standard 2.4 GHz, it outperforms other wireless devices. When I hook my laptop up to my TV for viewing photo slideshows or iTunes media content on the bigscreen it works flawlessly, much better than my big clunky wireless keyboard and mouse from Logitech that was an eye-sore in my living room and constantly losing sync with they dongle if at the wrong angle.

This sits nicely tucked away somewhere or even on the coffee table without taking up much space, and looks very smart.

Another nice feature is an on/off switch on the bottom of the keyboard. I often travel with it in my backpack, as I prefer to use an external mouse and/or keyboard when travelling with my laptop. The unit is no longer wasting precious battery life bumping keys around in my backpack while on the road.

No software to install, Windows 7 recognized it instantly and it worked flawlessly. The unit comes with a USB dongle and a short USB extension cable in case you need it, although I haven’t had any problems with they keyboard losing sync from long distances.

There is no manual included, but none is needed. It truly is plug and play.

I’ve owned Adesso products in the past, and this one is more discreet, cordless, and at a better price point than most of it’s wireless competitors. Satechi shipped the item quickly, and it arrived on-time and in good condition. — Best price/performance
