The 510 SSDs Series are struggling to find their market, and Intel has understood it. Available in very small quantities, these SSDs do not meet, in terms of price and performance, the above models equipped with SandForce. In 2012, Intel plans a recast of the series with the gradual replacement of the 510 series with “Cherryville” 520 series. Available in a wide range of capacity (60, 120, 180, 240 and 480 GB), these discs should use a SandForce controller. Intel also announced high transfer rates of 550 MB/s read and 520 MB/s writing and 70,000 IOPS random write at 4 KB. The Marvell controller used in the SSD 510 series is ill-suited, Intel has understood and corrected this.
