Intel officially launched its Intel 330 series SSD

Intel has officially launched its new Intel 330 series SSD (2.5″/9mm), which offer competitive prices and the power of a SandForce SF-2281 controller. The new drives are offered in capacities of 60 GB, 120 GB and 180 GB priced at $89, $149 and $ 243 respectively.

The Intel 330 series units use NAND Flash manufactured in 25nm, a SF-2281 controller, SATA 6.0 Gbps, with read/write rates of 500/450 MB/s (120 GB and 180 GB) and 500/400 MB/s (60 GB) with a performance of 22,500/33,000 IOPS in random read and write.

These specifications contrasts with the Intel 320 series of drives that use SATA 3.0Gbps and offer speeds of 270/220 MB/s read and write respectively, so that the new series represents a breakthrough in performance over its predecessors.

Yes, the new units have only 3 year warranty, compared with 5 years of the previous series.
