HEC Micro ATX Media Center / HTPC Case

As you might guess from the name of this case, the HEC 7K09BBA30FNRX isn’t really built with style or luxury in mind. This is a very simple rolled steel home theater PC case that won’t any attract much attention (good or bad) to itself.

The HEC is about 4 inches tall, 14 inches wide and 15 inches deep, which puts it towards the smaller end of the HTPC case market. This has an effect on the space inside. You can still fit a Micro ATX motherboard, but there is only one internal 3.5″ hard drive bay. Cooling is provided by a single 80mm fan located on the front. Unlike many HTPC cases, the HEC does come with a power supply rated at 300 watts. It isn’t the best power supply ever made, but it should be more than capable of handling typical HTPC hardware.

Ultimately, the HEC is just about price. This case usually costs well under $100 — in fact, you may be able to find it for $60 on sale. This low price makes up for the HEC’s basic design and lack of interior space.
