Giada Ultra MiniPC DN2301

The Giada Ultra MiniPC DN2301 ($675 street) looks like a prop from a 1980s science-fiction movie, but its technology is firmly rooted in the here and now. It has many of the features you’d want from a low power-consumption desktop, including increased performance compared with other nettops. Unfortunately, the system is priced far above the nettops it resembles, and falls short of the compact PCs in the same price range.

Pros

Core i5 CULV processor is much faster than dual-core Atom. ION graphics. Slot-mounted DVD drive. Compact form factor. Built-in IR receiver and includes an IR remote. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. USB 3.0. HDMI port. eSATA port. Two-year warranty.

Cons

Relatively Expensive. Blu-ray is not included (it’s an expensive option). No included keyboard or mouse. No TV tuner. No internal expansion.

Bottom Line

The Giada Ultra MiniPC DN2301 has many of the features you’d want from a low power-consuming desktop, including increased performance compared with other nettops. Unfortunately, the system is priced far above the nettops it resembles, and falls short of the compact PCs in the same price range.
