GeeXboX 3.0: a XBMC distro

A new version of GeeXboX is here! GeeXboX 3.0 is a major update which includes XBMC 11 “Eden” with the highly anticipated PVR (Personal Video Recorder). You can now use GeeXboX as a DVR. In addition to our x86 and x86_64 traditional platforms, this version is also available for other platforms, with HD video management to most of them.

After a year since the previous version, GeeXboX 3.0 is the fulfillment of hours, days, months of hard work from many people. The PC version now weighs about 140MB, due in part to the addition of firmware for greater hardware recognition. We believe GeeXboX is still a light distribution, but supporting more hardware. The basic system has changed, with many updated packages since version 2, also benefiting from various advances in the OpenBricks construction system.

GeeXboX now supports several systems based on ARM (TI OMAP4 Pandaboard, nVidia Tegra 2, SolidRun CuBox Marvell Armada, ST-Ericsson Snowball), and several others will. The Toshiba AC100 (Tegra 2) and Raspberry Pi are in the development phase.
