Drobo has unveiled their newest 5-bay USB 3.0 + Thunderbolt external HDD case, the Drobo 5D.
The 5D can support up to 16 terabytes of protected, solid-state-drive- (SSD-) accelerated data with up to five drives and an additional SSD bay—the equivalent of 32 million photographs, 4 million songs, 1 million high-definition movies or 48 hours of uncompressed HD video.
The case is equipped with 1x USB 3.0 port, 2x Thunderbolt ports, built on award-winning BeyondRAID technology with single- or dual-drive redundancy and can house a total of five 3.5-inch SATA HDDs.
Expect to see the Drobo 5D and Mini release this summer for $800 without actual storage.
