FSP Aurum Xilenser: fanless and modular power supply
Two months after the presentation of Pro Aurum and Xilenser PSUs at CeBIT, FSP has just officially announced them. The Pro Aurum models stand out by offering high power, and a comprehensive modular cabling. The Aurum Xilenser alternative model, its main advantage is to be fanless. We will focus on the Aurum Xilenser, because it can fit perfectly an HTPC configuration.
The Xilenser Aurum range, has two models available, a 400W and a 500W. The chassis measures only 160 x 150 x 86 mm, and it also has a flat black paint. Of course, it is certified 80Plus Gold.

Cooler Master launches their Silent Pro M2 power supplies
Cooler Master has added a new range of power supplies to its catalog. Called Silent Pro M2, these modular power supplies are available in versions 420W, 520W, 620W, 720W, 850W and 1000W.
With dimensions of 150 x 180 x 86 mm, they are equipped with a 135 mm fan. They are 80Plus Bronze certified (the 850W and 1000W are even 80Plus Silver certified) and have a single +12V rail (32A and 80A depending on model).
About the prices, there’s something for every budget: around 79.90 euros for the Silent Pro M2 420W, 89.90 euros for the 520W, 99.90€ for the 620W version, 114.90 euros for the Silent Pro M2 720W, €149.90 for the 850W block and finally 169.90 euros for the most powerful version....
Zalman launched two entry-level power supplies of 450W and 500W
Zalman has added two new power supplies to its catalog: the ZM450-GS and the ZM500-GS. As the specifications sugest they have a power of 450W and 500W, targeting users with a bit greedy configuration. Both models have a chassis with dimensions of 140x150x86 mm. Despite their low power, they have not received any 80Plus certification because their performance is up to 84% with 50% load, which is a shame. As a reminder, be aware that it takes at minimum yields of 81/85/81% respectively for 20/50/100% load for 80Plus Bronze certification.
The wiring is not modular, but it should be noted that the cables are sheathed. Both models have exactly the same number of connectors, here below, the composition:
