Plextor has announced the introduction of its burner device, the PX-612U. Weighing less than 300 grams, this nomad burner uses USB connectivity for power and data transfer. Offering a DVD burning at 8x, it can obviously run on computer, using the PlexUtilities and Nero 10 Essentials utility suites that are provided, but also with any television equipped with USB, thanks to the integration of PlexTV technology, which sends a signal to ensure specific detection as a external storage unit. This USB drive was announced suggested retail price of $90. It comes with a manufacturers warranty of two years.

Samsung has just announced its SH-222AB internal 22x DVD writer with fast Lead-In that considerably reduces disc recognition time during start-up. According to Samsung, with the company’s new technology, the SH-222AB DVD writer reduces its Lead-In-Time up to 60 percent at maximum offering quick start-up operation. The Samsung SH-222AB writes DVD+/-R at 22x, DVD+R LD at 16x, DVD+RW at 8x, DVD-RW at 6x, DVD-RAM at 12x and CD-R/RW at up to 48X. It is available for $23.
