Arctic MC-101: new Media Center

Update: Target price added

After the MC-001, Arctic launches the MC-101. It was revisited, so it lost some things but others were recovered.

The case has been changed and adopts a brushed aluminum finish and a slightly different format, the design is interesting. The MC-101 is 200 x 160 x 30 mm.  Now this platform will be hosted by the new AMD Trinity APU, a revision of Bulldozer announced as promising, two versions to choose from A8 and A10, for the moment the timings are not known, the chipset is an A70M (Hudson M3).

The graphics is based on the HD 7640G or 7660G, it is HD compatible and will therefore allow the visualization of high-definition video. Storage is confortable, depending on the model, a 1TB drive comes with a connector SATA III 6 GB/s, presumably a second connector would be free. The memory is DDR3 and comes in 2 x 2 GB or 2 x 4 GB depending on options. Against, the are no optical drive.

Communication is not left behind, with 802.11n WiFi and gigabit Ethernet, to note the presence of an internal mSATA (PCI-E), a DVB-T TV tuner is also present. A card reader 4 in 1 has a place on the front panel, as well a eSATAp and USB 2.0 combo connector and one USB 3.0.

An OS is provided on the complete models, the Windows 7 Home Premium, but it is not provided for the barbone version of course. These will be available after the launch of the Trinity APU from AMD, we will have more details at that time, as the price for example.

Arctic MC101 target prices:

  • MC101 (A10) $699 / €539
  • MC101 Barebone (A10) $469 / €359
  • MC101 Barebone (A8) $399 / €299
